Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Foundation Review
Hi babes!
Okay, so wanted to give you all the deets on my newest foundation, Teint Idole Ultra.
Fun fact - I used to wear this back in college! Once I ran out I stopped using it since at the time I was working for Chanel and received so much gratis I really had no need repurchase any makeup for a long time. #firstworldproblem. Growing up my Grandma always used Lancome skincare and lipsticks. I have such fond memories of this brand.
As much as I love full glam, most days I wear fairly simple makeup. Foundation, mascara, and gloss is reality most days!
What it is - An oil free, long wearing foundation that creates a natural matte complexion for up to 24 hours. Available in 40 shades. Basically, your skin will look airbrushed and they’ve got a ton of shades ;)
How it looks/feels - This provides a medium to full coverage. I usually do one layer all over and then spot treat areas I need more coverage. Depending on what you use to apply, you can easily build up to a full coverage. I have dry skin and was able to wear this comfortably all day.
Packaging 3.5/5 - It’s slightly larger than most other bottles BUT the packaging is absolutely stunning. It has Lancome’s signature rose logo on the cap and comes in a beautiful glass bottle. I love how it looks on my vanity!
Price 3.5/5 - At $47 it’s definitely not cheap, but when compared to other luxury brands it’s reasonable. (Dior and YSL will set you back $60!)
Wear 4/5 - THE MOST IMPORTANT THING! This foundation touts 24 hour staying power (although I really don’t recommend you ever wear makeup that long!). I haven’t personally tested the 24 hour thing (and probably won’t!), but was happy to see this lasted me through a full work day and into happy hour. I have dry skin and some long wear foundations can feel tight and heavy at the end of the day, this one however, did not. (Leave a comment if you’ve been able to test out 24 hour wear, I’ve always been curious how it actually pans out!)
Shade 5/5 - I’m wearing 110 Ivoire. What I love about Lancome is they have so many shades to choose from especially for deep and very fair skin. I’m usually one of the lightest shades in most formulas and it can be a challenge to find the right shade. They’re either too orange, or just too dark in general. My skin is tricky since I can get away with both warm and cool undertones, so was happy to find juuuust the right shade in this formula. You can view all 40 shades here.
PRO TIP: If you don’t have time to go in store to get color matched, I recommend checking out the shade finder tool on Sephora’s site! You enter your current foundation and shade and it matches you to the equivalent in other brands. I’ve found it HIGHLY accurate thus far!
Texture 4.5/5 - Very light, and on the thinner side compared to most foundations which makes it super easy to build more coverage where needed. I usually use a damp sponge to apply foundation and concealer.
Coverage 5/5 - This provides a medium to full coverage, my absolute favorite! I usually wear a single layer all over and then spot treat areas I need more coverage (like my cheeks and chin). Depending on how you apply, the coverage can very easily build up to a full coverage.
Overall 4.25/5 - Love love love this formula! I’ve been using it everyday since I got it and am obsessed. I can see this working well for many different types of skin. It’s definitely become my daily “go to.”
