My Daily Apple Cider Vinegar Shot

A few weeks ago I shared on Stories my ACV recipe that I take daily. I was pleasantly surprised by how many others drink it too! I even learned a couple new tips for mixes that I will have to try.

Before we get into this, let me just say… there are A LOT of wild claims about the benefits of ACV out there on the internet. Obviously I am not a doctor, so please consult with a physician if you have any medical conditions that may be impacted by taking ACV. OKAY, now that that’s out of the way, I’m sharing below what has worked for me!

Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

  • Helps manage weight loss - There are multiple studies that show by taking ACV daily to help with weight loss, however most of these were done with obese individuals. I don’t have any crazy expectations with shedding weight, but I have noticed my bloat go down since drinking ACV!

  • Maintain a healthy level of blood sugar levels - This is especially effective when you take ACV before a meal as it's been shown to prevent blood sugar spikes and dips.

  • Immune system boost - Helps fight off illnesses since it kills many types of bacteria. This has been one of the most noticeable differences - I have yet to catch any of the nasty bugs going around. In years past, I felt like I always did. (fingers crossed it stays this way!)

My concoction

  1. First, grab a shot glass (can be any kind of cup). I prefer to use a shot glass since it’s a small amount of liquid and maybe it’s the former college kid in me that can still easily throw back a shot? Who knows, it just helps me to take this drink as quickly as possible. The taste is not great and it’s best not to have ACV on your teeth, so this method of delivery works well for me.

  2. I use this cayenne extract, adding 3-4 drops. It makes it spicy so don’t go overboard!

  3. This turmeric extract is my favorite, I’ll add another 4-5 drops. This is a really potent orange that can stain so mix with care!

  4. Next, the apple cider vinegar. In the beginning I used a tablespoon to measure, but now I can just eyeball the amount. Most sources will recommend 1-2 tablespoons max per day. You don’t want to go overboard!

  5. Throw that shot back honey! After I drink it I usually follow up with a bunch of water to wash it all down and start my morning off with some hydration.

One last word of caution - be careful with the drink recipes out there that propose casually drinking ACV. It can be rough on your teeth and there are other ways to get your daily dose!
